COVID-19 in combination with increased visibility on anti-Black violence and white supremacy culture has created a rift in our community gathering spaces. We are all craving healing spaces that are communal, but what does that look like when we have to be apart? What does this mean in terms of how we get human connection when we are forced to do so through artificial interfaces? What needs to happen to ground ourselves, literally, into the present?

Art is a powerful healing mechanism and historically humans have come together around art to process pain and struggle. Poetry is healing art for Jamie Renee Williams and the collaboration with TTZ originates from that desire to metabolize the traumas of these moments we are in through the creation of a plantable zine.

>>> emer.jent zine sale funds will be donated to Jamiah Hargins of Crop Swap LA to support their work growing food on unused spaces, creating sustainable green jobs and providing hyperlocal, nutrient-rich food. Funds are received through venmo. Please caption with a heart and flower emoji.

What is Tiny Tech Zines (TTZ)?

Tiny Tech Zines (TTZ) is a tech zine fair and collective. Our work emphasizes care and centers the ways that marginalized communities think about technology. We organize as guests in Tovaangar (so-called Los Angeles). We define "technology" very openly as anything that beings have made/are making/will make. We are asking: How have our communities harnessed and created technologies for our own needs? How do care and technology come together in deeply meaningful ways?

TTZ is organized by Rachel Simanjuntak (she/he/they), Tristan Espinoza (he/they), Tyler Yin (he/they) and Jules Kris (he/him). TTZ is inspired by the New York Tech Zine Fair.
